God is superior.

Sultan Mahmood was a very atrocious king of his time. There are many stories about him and his oppression’s. He is notorious for claiming to own every beautiful woman that he saw or heard about from others.

It didn’t matter to Sultan Mahmood if the beautiful women had husbands, children or families of any kind, he would separate them against their will and take them for himself.

Many women covered their faces in public. They didn’t send their young daughters out to keep them safe from the Sultan. For that reason, Sultan Mahmood rewarded gold coins to anyone who reported beautiful women that were hiding.

There once was a carpenter who was a very hardworking young man. He had a gorgeous wife, who always covered herself to be safe, but somehow an unknown person reported her beauty to the king to be rewarded.  Sultan Mahmood came to visit the carpenter and his wife with his soldiers on horses.

He walked into the carpenter’s little Hut and asked his wife to uncover her face. When the king saw the carpenter’s wife, he was mesmerized by her beauty. The king looked at the carpenter and said; “You have until dawn to carve 1000 wheat grains out of wood. I will send my minister early in the morning to count your wooden carvings. If it is less than 1000 grains, he will bring your wife to my palace and she will marry me.”

The king left the young couple. The carpenter’s wife started crying and knew it was impossible to carve even 20 grains until morning. But the young carpenter was calm and started carving and kept saying: “God is more powerful than Sultan Mahmood. God is Grander than Sultan Mahmood. God is Superior to Sultan Mahmood.”

The carpenter carved 40 grains by dawn and his wife didn’t stop crying. She said: “How can you possibly be calm. The minister will be here any minute to take me.”

The carpenter said: “Don’t worry my dear. God is bigger than Sultan Mahmood.”

Daylight started to show its brightness when they heard soldiers making an announcement. The young couple were shaking.

The minister was there in the allies but not to take the carpenter’s wife, he was there just to let people know that Sultan Mahmood had died during the night.

Don't let our generation go extinct.

Story by Laleh Chini.
There lived a fox with his mate near a village. The fox became the father of several cubs and as soon as they grew up he took them to the village to teach them how to obtain food. The father fox showed his cubs all the fruit gardens of the village. Everyday, he stole from a different garden so his cubs would learn how not to get caught. Days passed and the cubs were learning perfectly. One of the cubs got curious and asked: “We stole from all the gardens of the village except the garden with the blue door. We passed it carefully not to be seen. You didn’t look at that door and looked down until you passed even the garden wall. Why is that? Should we be afraid of this garden? Did anything happen at this garden?” The father fox said: “This fruit garden belongs to the religious leader of the village. At the end of each week, people gather in a special place to listen to his advice and they believe every thing he says and follow blindly. If he sees us stealing from his garden, as a form of revenge he will announce to the villagers that who ever hunts fox and eats its meat will go to heaven and will get a private garden there as a special reward. So trust me, you should avoid this garden even if you are starving or he will cause the extinction of fox generations.”

Film festival.

It was the film festival for short films and people were so interested to watch them one by one and describe or analyze each one as we all love to do. They saw a few 10-minute films and seemed like they enjoyed each and every one of them. The last short film was about to start and people got even more excited because after this last one they could vote for the best film. The prize of the best 10-minute short film depended on people’s votes. The film started with an image of a ceiling. Two minutes passed and people were waiting to see what would happen next. Four more minutes passed and the camera was still on the ceiling. Some of the spectators left the cinema with anger. Eight minutes of the 10-minute film passed and the camera never left the ceiling. It was really boring and frustrating. Everyone was mumbling and some were swearing. The film was going nowhere and it really didn’t seem like it would get any positive reviews or votes. When the film reached the 9-minute mark, the camera moved to a young child laying on a bed who was paralyzed from the neck down by an accident caused by a drunken careless driver. Then there came a writing: “This was just 10-minutes of my life and most of you weren’t patient enough to watch the film, now you know how the rest of my life looks like. Please be thankful for your health and abilities. Drive sober, other people care about their lives, if you don’t for yours.”
